Replacing the Battery
The battery and high-pressure pump are located next to each other, under the black plastic cover. They are both user-serviceable parts available from customer support, or our website www.petratools.com/support If you’ve determined that your battery will no longer hold a charge, or it needs frequent charges to function, it may have reached the end of its service life. Ensure that the charger and wall outlet are both functioning properly before changing the battery.
- Turn the unit off with the red rocker switch (O=Off). Ensure the battery charger is NOT plugged in.
- Remove the black plastic battery/pump compartment cover. It is held in place with 6 Philips screws. Four of them are located on the top of the cover, in each corner, and two of the screws are above the red on/off rocker switch. You will not need to remove the 2 screws on either side of the voltmeter.
- Lift up on the black cover. Place in a safe place to avoid damage.
- There is a black metal bracket holding the battery in place. This is held in place with a clip which you’ll need to remove.
- Next, remove the two black (-) wires by unthreading the nuts on the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the red (+) wire from the positive red terminal. Do not allow a tool to make a connection between the two terminals!
- Lift old battery out of compartment and dispose of it as recommended in your area. It is a lead-acid type battery & should NOT be thrown in trash receptacles.
- Place the new battery with red (+) terminal towards the back of unit, just like the old battery. Reattach the red wire with the nut/bolt. Reattach the black wires with nut/bolt. Replace black battery retaining bracket with nut/bolt.
-
Install black battery cover, and screw 6 Philips screws back in to frame.
